Urgent Call for New Volunteers to Become Advocates

CASA Child Advocates of Montgomery County is in urgent need of new volunteers to serve as Advocates for children in foster care who have been removed from their homes due to abuse and neglect. As of June 26th, CASA had already received cases involving 604 children for the year.  CASA is already above the total number of children served for last year (556 children were served by 236 Advocates in 2016), with more than two months to go until the end of our program year.

CASA is currently serving 100% of children in need in Montgomery County, however, new volunteers are needed to help with this extraordinary case load to continue providing Advocates for every single child.

CASA Child Advocates has added an emergency July training class in order to help meet this need. The class will be Saturday, July 15th from 9:00am-4:00pm and Monday – Thursday (July 17th-20th) evenings from 6:00pm-9:00pm (training is held at CASA’s office in downtown Conroe). Swearing in will be Monday, July 24th. There is also an August training class scheduled; see CASA’s full training schedule here: https://casaspeaks4kids.com/volunteer/training/

Here’s how you can help… If you know someone who has expressed interest in becoming an Advocate, or if you know someone you’d like to encourage to volunteer, this is the perfect time to say to them, “CASA needs you now to help serve these children!” Or if you’ve been considering becoming a CASA volunteer, please contact us. We’d be happy to provide more information and answer your questions!

CASA Child Advocates offers two informational events each month for those seeking information about becoming a volunteer. You’re invited to join current CASA volunteers to learn more at Conversations with CASA – Wednesday, July 12th from 5:00pm-7:00pm at The Refuge Bar & Bistro (24 Waterway Ave., Ste. 110, The Woodlands), OR Wednesday, July 19th from 9:00am-11:00am at La Madeleine Country French Café at Market Street (9595 Six Pines Dr., Ste. 100, The Woodlands).
