A Message from the President & CEO: March 2023

By Ann Marie Ronsman, President & CEO | CASA Child Advocates of Montgomery County

Ann Marie Ronsman

“Spring drew on … and a greenness grew over those brown beds, which, freshening daily, suggested the thought that Hope traversed them at night, and left each morning brighter traces of her steps.” — Charlotte Brontë, Jane Eyre

Hello, spring! We had a wonderful 2023 CASA Speaks for Kids Gala: Pretty in Pink. We took over the Margaritaville Lake Resort at Lake Conroe for the weekend and had a fantastic time celebrating all the incredible work CASA Child Advocates of Montgomery County does to serve the children and families in our community. Thank you to each of you who attended, generously donated, or volunteered for our event! If you haven’t seen the Heart of CASA video yet that shares the story of Scarlett and Jade and their Advocates, Denise and Susan, I encourage you to watch it by clicking the button below.

Meet Scarlett and Jade

Child abuse Prevention & Awareness month in April

April is National Child Abuse Prevention & Awareness Month. Once again, we will install a Blue Pinwheel Garden along our front walkway to be displayed throughout April. Each pinwheel will represent one child who experienced abuse and neglect that we served in 2022. Please plan on stopping by and seeing the moving display. Each of those children represented also has an Advocate who stands beside them.

Volunteer Appreciation Event on April 14

April is National Volunteer Appreciation Month as well! Thanks to our Advocates’ willingness to volunteer, CASA serves 100 percent of the children in foster care in Montgomery County. We are also grateful to the many civic groups, organizations, and individuals who volunteer to help us with events and projects throughout the year. We will be celebrating our inspiring volunteers with a reception at The Art of Caring: Volunteer Appreciation Event on April 14 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Conroe Art League in downtown Conroe (127 Simonton Street.) Please join us for light bites and refreshments while we celebrate our volunteers’ of children and families this year. We’ll send out more information as we get closer to the event. I look forward to seeing you there!

Marilyn McQueeney’s retirement Celebration

At the end of April, Marilyn is retiring from her role as Program Director. I hope you can join us at an open-house event on April 25 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the CASA house to celebrate all she has accomplished during her 14 years working with our organization. Marilyn’s dedication to the children CASA serves will forever impact our organization and the children and families of Montgomery County.

Thank you to each of you who through the sharing of your time, talent, and treasure are changing children’s stories and impacting our community forever. Wishing you a spring filled with joy and hope.
