A Message from the President & CEO: September 2022

By Ann Marie Ronsman, President & CEO | CASA Child Advocates of Montgomery County

Ann Marie Ronsman

Happy fall, y’all! (Can a northern girl say that?) Thank you to each of you that came to our volunteer appreciation event at Rob Fleming Park in July. It was the hottest day on record in Houston ever! We were so glad to see everyone and their families enjoying the water slides and snow cones. If you weren’t able to join us, please know how grateful we are for all you do.

changing lives, one act at a time

I have the wonderful privilege of being in the office each day and observing the meaningful work you do. I overhear children laughing on our outdoor sensory path during TBRI coaching sessions. I hear bits about jury trials that are underway. I see Advocates carefully choosing just the right blanket or art kit for their child. I walk by Advocates in our office meeting with caseworkers and parents because our space is more inviting and less stressful for families. I hear stories of Advocates driving long distances to visit teens monthly in RTCs. Therapy dogs have visited CASA to help anxious children and families. Recently Bikers Against Child Abuse served children here who had both CPS and criminal cases. Watching the Advocate and our Supervisor for that case support both the children and each other was incredible.

You are making children feel connected. You are making children feel safe. You are making children and families feel seen and valued.

Through thousands of seemingly small acts each month, you are changing the trajectory of children’s lives. It is such a privilege to serve beside you.

childhood trauma Impact Conference

If you haven’t registered for our Childhood Trauma Impact (CTI) conference on October 26, please do! It’s a rare opportunity to hear from national leaders in childhood trauma without having to travel. I promise it will be time well spent. Visit https://casaspeaks4kids.com/childhood-trauma-impact-conference/ for more information about the conference. For Montgomery County CASA Advocates, please contact your Case Supervisor for a special link to register for the conference at a discounted rate!
