April Donor Spotlight: Michelle Little | Waste Connections

Michelle Little Waste ConnectionsThis month, we invite you to meet Michelle Little with Waste Connections. Michelle, who serves as the Executive Director – Engagement Solutions/HRIS and Women’s Network Corporate Representative, leads the coordination efforts for the Waste Connections Annual Golf Classic for Kids, of which CASA Child Advocates of Montgomery County has been one of the beneficiaries since 2018. Waste Connections has also been a long-time sponsor of the CASA Speaks for Kids Gala (this event was a benefit concert in 2021.) Last week, Michelle was kind enough to sit down and answer a few questions for us.

How did you first hear about CASA?

Through my company, Waste Connections. We started supporting CASA Child Advocates through our Waste Connections Golf Classic in 2018 plus we have been supporting their annual Gala since 2014.

With so many great organizations to support, why did Waste Connections choose to support CASA?

CASA Child Advocates of Montgomery County does such great work to Advocate for children in foster care in Montgomery County. The CASA Volunteers make sure that the children in care have someone who is looking out for them when they need it most. Advocates make sure they are safe in their placement, getting counseling, are healthy and doing well in school. In addition, they tell the judge where they think the child should be permanently placed. This organization fits well with our charitable mission to help children in need.

As you have come to understand more about CASA over the past few years, what do you think other people should know about this organization?

All of the advocacy work is done by trained and court-appointed volunteers. All volunteers have a CASA supervisor that helps them through the process and makes sure that they have the support they need.
