Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi campus has a Supervised Independent Living Program (SIL) called Island Harbor. When coupled with their tuition and fee waiver, the SIL program can make college free for youth until the age of 21.
In addition to the funding received to cover their rent and meals, they also receive extra support from their foster care liaison, Jessica Aleman, to help navigate life on campus as well as life after college.
All Advocates are welcome to attend even if they do not currently serve an older youth child.
