Shifting the Paradigm in Engaging Fathers in Child Welfare

Presenter:
Kenneth D. Thompson, Sr.
Fatherhood Program Specialist
Texas Department of Family and Protective Services, Division for Permanency

Mr. Thompson brings a talent for children’s and fathers’ advocacy cultivated through years of service in the public sector. He is the first-ever Fatherhood Program Specialist for the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services in the Division for Permanency. Mr. Thompson’s experiences as a parent educator, facilitator, mentor, and talk show host serve him well in his current role. His previous assignments include serving as the lead host for “The Dad-Show” and featured facilitator for “Focus on Fathers.” He was also the director of the All-American Mentoring Project, a program with an emphasis on children from single-parent homes and low socioeconomic status. Mr. Thompson is passionate about serving his community. He is the former president of the Pflugerville Independent School District Board of Trustees. Mr. Thompson is also a Texas State University Applied Arts and Sciences graduate with an emphasis on “Peace and Conflict.”
