Donations in Montgomery County:
Advocate, Tammy Robichaux, who is also Red Cross trained, offers the following advice: “I know that there are many people who want to help by donating food and clothing, etc. Dropping this off directly at the shelters is generally not the best idea. The shelters want to utilize their space and resources to provide living and sleeping spaces for the evacuees. They work with the donation centers to get food and supplies they need.”
- If you have food items/diapers/formula, it’s probably best to deliver to the Montgomery County Food Bank (http://mcfoodbank.org). Montgomery County Food Bank will be accepting mass quantity food, personal care items and toiletries at: One Food for Life Way, Conroe, TX 77385 Phone: 936-539-6686 (GPS will recognize- 1 Prospect Point Conroe, TX 77385)
- There is also a collection center at a large warehouse on League Line Road near Airport Road in Conroe. They are collecting mostly food, water, diapers and supplies (not clothing) for the evacuees located at the Lone Star Convention Center.
- For clothing donations, it’s probably best to deliver to places like Interfaith of The Woodlands (http://woodlandsinterfaith.org).
Tammy continues, “If you know people who have been flooded, you might suggest that they file for FEMA assistance as soon as they can (https://www.disasterassistance.gov), and that they contact Red Cross to request a Disaster Assessment (1-866-526-8300 and choose option 3) http://www.redcross.org/local/texas/gulf-coast/disaster-response”

The Dance Vault is opening its studio for all dancers who either lost their dance home due to flooding or want to take a class. The studio will reopen for regularly scheduled classes Aug. 31, and all classes will be open to the public at no cost Aug. 31-Sept. 1. The Dance Vault is also accepting any donations for hurricane and flood relief foundations as well as gift carts to the following locations:
