Child abuse and neglect is an ongoing epidemic. It has a lasting negative impact on the victims, our society, and our economy.
Last year in Texas:
- 222 children died due to child abuse or neglect.
- Every 9 minutes, a child became a victim of abuse or neglect.
- 60% of child abuse or neglect victims were under the age of 6.
While the numbers are daunting, at CASA Child Advocates of Montgomery County, we believe that nothing is impossible and that we are all an essential part of the solution. Together, we can help break the cycle of abuse and neglect.
CASA volunteers speak up for the best interest of abused and neglected children in the foster care system. Last year, 236 volunteer Advocates spoke up for 556 abused and neglected children in Montgomery County (100% of abuse/neglect cases). These Advocates provide our county’s most vulnerable children the best possible chance to live in a safe and loving HOME.
By sponsoring the CASA Superhero Run, you are helping change children’s lives. You are helping CASA Advocates find relatives for children who thought they were alone, helping keep brothers and sisters together, and helping toddlers find someone they can safely and lovingly call “Mom”. You are playing a part in giving kids in our own community a chance to really live life.
In Montgomery County, it costs $1500 to provide an Advocate for a child for a year. A $7,500 sponsorship will make a lifetime difference for 5 children in our county.

The mission of CASA Child Advocates of Montgomery County is to provide and promote court-appointed volunteer advocacy so that every abused and neglected child can have the opportunity to thrive in a safe, nurturing, permanent home. We recruit, train, and lead devoted community volunteers to provide a voice for the needs of children removed from their homes. We are the only organization in Montgomery county providing this network of support for our community that has a child population of 135,756. CASA Child Advocates of Montgomery County was established in January of 1992, and during that first year, we served 28 children. In 2016, 236 volunteers served 556 abused and neglected children. In the twenty-five years since we began, CASA has advocated for more than 5,000 abused and neglected children in Montgomery County.
