A Message from the President & CEO: July 2022
By Ann Marie Ronsman, President & CEO | CASA Child Advocates of Montgomery County
Happy summer!
I’m grateful to have just returned from a wonderful family trip to Alaska and Washington. We took a cruise and enjoyed some wonderful family adventures. I am a wanderlust at heart, so traveling again was fantastic. This trip was extra special as we’re preparing for my oldest son to leave for college in just a few weeks. He will be studying business at Dallas Baptist University while running cross-country and track. I’m not sure my mama heart is ready, but I know he will do great things.
Here at CASA, we’re having a busy summer with our events preparing teens in foster care to learn some of the life skills they need to be successful after they age out. Julie Brown, our Teen Program Manager, has put together some exceptional events that teach nutrition, bike repair, gardening, and many other topics. These events are designed to get the children out of their RTCs (Residential Treatment Centers) or CWOP (Children Without Placement) living situations for some fun, connection, and learning. We would love for you to join us at one of our future events!
In life, there are no sure bets, except that CASA volunteers will rise to the occasion and make Montgomery County a safer place for children in foster care. We invite you and your families to join the CASA staff and board as we celebrate our volunteers at a Volunteer Appreciation Event on Sunday, July 10th. This private event at Rob Fleming Park in The Woodlands is a chance to have some fun in the sun and recognize the incredible work of our tireless volunteers. Do you know what else that means? No lines for the water slides! It will be a great event, and we can’t wait to see you there.
I wish you all a wonderful summer making memories in your flip-flops!
