A Message from the President & CEO: May 2023

By Ann Marie Ronsman, President & CEO | CASA Child Advocates of Montgomery County

Ann Marie Ronsman

May is the time of year that we celebrate transitions and new beginnings. Personally, my oldest daughter is graduating from high school in just a few weeks. She’ll be headed to Texas A&M in the fall to study biomedical engineering. Our family is entering a new phase of two in college and three in high school. It is hard to believe!

For new beginnings at CASA, please join me in welcoming Susan Truscott in her new role as Program Director. She has been training and preparing for this transition for many months. We’re excited to see the new energy and perspective she will bring to the role as she builds on the legacy Marilyn McQueeney has left.

Leader in trauma-informed care

CASA’s leadership in creating a Trauma-Informed Montgomery County continues to expand. We’ve had many TBRI training opportunities in the community over the last few months. Our TBRI Manager, Jennifer Reitmeyer, has done an incredible job of creating and delivering TBRI training to many different audiences. We are excited to be providing TBRI training for teachers and staff in Magnolia and Conroe Independent School Districts before school begins in fall 2023. We’re also training other CASA programs throughout the state as well as the Montgomery County Juvenile Probation department. Our goal is to fill our community with educated adults who understand what childhood trauma looks like and how to intervene in a way that is supportive to children.

Safer futures for our children

Nelson Mandela once said, “Safety and security don’t just happen, they are the result of collective consensus and public investment. We owe our children, the most vulnerable citizens in our society, a life free of violence and fear.” I believe that CASA has a crucial role in the safety and security of children in Montgomery County. Thank you for the investment you continue to make in the most vulnerable children in our community.

Thank you for the role you play to “Change a Child’s Story Today. Change a Community Forever.”
