CONROE, Texas (April 18, 2024) – Child Advocates of Montgomery County is pleased to announce the selection of its President and CEO, Ann Marie Ronsman, as a regional representative to the Texas CASA Board of Directors. The Texas CASA Board of Directors plays an important role in governance, financial stewardship and ensuring that Texas CASA has the resources to fulfill its work and mission of supporting local CASA volunteer advocacy programs and advocating for effective public policy for children and families in the child protection system.

Texas CASA is the statewide association for 74 local CASA programs. The role of Texas CASA is to strategically support the formation, recruitment, training, development and activities of local member programs that provide high-quality volunteers to act as the Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) or Guardians Ad Litem (GAL) for children and youth who come into the judicial system as a result of abuse or neglect, and to advocate for the best interests, so that every child can be safe, have a permanent home and have the opportunity to thrive.

The state is divided into six regions to best organize CASA programs within geographic areas. The number of local programs within the six regions varies as does geographical size and area of regions.

To ensure representation for the 74 local CASA programs, one regional representative is selected from each region to serve on the Texas CASA Board of Directors. A regional representative must be a CASA Executive Director (ED). As a voting member of the Texas CASA Board of Directors, the representative follows the same membership application, process and orientation as every board member. The Board of Directors recently selected Ronsman to serve as the primary regional representative for the southeast region of Texas CASA.

“I am deeply honored to have been selected as a regional representative for Texas CASA and to serve on the Texas CASA Board of Directors,” Ronsman said. “This opportunity allows me to further advocate for the well-being of abused and neglected children, and I am committed to making a positive impact on their lives. Together, we can create a brighter future for every child involved in the child welfare system.”

The regional representative’s role provides an opportunity to address advocacy issues and needs on a statewide level. Representatives have the ongoing opportunity to gain support and perspectives from the larger CASA community and stakeholders in the child welfare system.
