Cornhole Tournament Raises almost $65,000 for Children, Families in Crisis
Child Advocates of Montgomery County held their second CASA Cornament on Sunday, Oct. 15, 2023. More than 150 cornhole tournament players and guests gathered at B-52 Brewing Co. in Conroe for an afternoon of fun and friendly competition.
Presented by Chesmar Homes, the event benefited the children and families served by Child Advocates of Montgomery County.
While the 49 competing teams stepped up and tossed away throughout the afternoon, participants and guests enjoyed live music by Jerry Rowell, a raffle, a Family Fun Area sponsored by Carol Knott Tefft with RE/MAX Integrity The Hometown Team featuring a professional face painter and balloon artist, and most of all, great company and fellowship.
Congratulations to the 2023 CASA Cornament champions – 1st place, We Alright; 2nd place, Disc Pro Graphics; 3rd place, The Corn Stars from EnerCorp. Additional award winners included Best Dressed, Save the Bags; Best Team Name, The Uni-Corns; and Most-Spirited Team, EnerCorp’s twelve teams.
CASA Development Director Lindsay Miller, Event Coordinator Shannon Regan, and event co-chairs Carol Knott Tefft and Jeanne Toth, worked for over six months to pull together the fundraising event. Miller, who is also a volunteer CASA Advocate, said planning an outdoor fundraising event brought challenges, but the end result was well worth the effort.
“The time, energy, compassion, and dedication of CASA volunteers is just amazing,” Miller explained. “They step up to amplify the voices of children whose future is uncertain, and they are making a difference, one child at a time.”
The event’s featured sponsors include Chesmar Homes, EnerCorp, America’s ER + Urgent Care, Fitness Project, Waste Connections, Carol Knott Tefft with RE/MAX Integrity The Hometown Team, Woodforest National Bank, Abaco Drilling, ChampionX, Disc Pro Printing + Graphics, Kimball Insurance Group, ProDirectional, Right Fence Co., The Strong Firm, P.C., and TACHUS Fiber Internet. Special thanks to event underwriters and in-kind donors, B-52 Brewing Co., Junior League of The Woodlands, Kuhn’s Custom Cornhole, SignsNow The Woodlands & Spring, and Team Sinisi.
