A Season to Give Back: The Many Ways You Can Make a Difference
By Ann McAlpin, Executive Director, CASA Child Advocates of Montgomery County
As 2020 comes to a close, we know that 2021 is filled with possibilities. For kids in foster care, 2021 could be the year they leave the system for a safe, permanent and loving home.
With a dedicated Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) volunteer, Montgomery County’s most vulnerable children will have an adult by their side to ensure their voice is heard and to look out for their best interests until they are placed in a safe, permanent home.
We continue, with your help, to provide Advocates for 100% of children who come into care in Montgomery County. But our work goes on. Currently, about 6 children enter foster care in our county every week, and it costs about $1,500 to provide a child with an Advocate for one year.
CASA Advocates work to give kids the opportunity to thrive. Will you resolve to help children in Montgomery County reclaim their childhood from abuse or neglect? You can give hope to more kids like AJ, John, Audrey, Jeffrey and Harley this holiday season and in the new year ahead with a CASA volunteer who cares. A volunteer like Joe! (See their story here: http://bit.ly/Meet_Campbell_Family_CASA)
Now that the holiday season is fully underway, we want to highlight several ways that you can give back to make a lasting impact in the lives of county’s most vulnerable children.
